Ordering American Grown Flowers
Did you know that the percentage of cut flowers sold in the USA aren’t grown in the United States? More to the point, however, is the following question: did you know that you have the ability to order flowers that are American Grown? In many parts of this country you can find cut flowers that were grown very close to where you live. And if you love local food, and want to support your regional farmers, why wouldn’t you seek out area flower growers as well?
Recently on The Garden Lady on WRKO I interviewed Debra Prinzing, author of Slow Flowers: Four Seasons of Locally Grown Bouquets from the Garden, Meadow and Farm. She is so passionate about the wisdom of supporting US flower growers that she started a website about it. You can see some of the many local growers listed on that Slow Flowers site.
As 2015 ended and we enter a new year, consider making it a point to support local growers, from the farmers who are within a fifty mile radius of where you live, to those who are regional or ship within the USA.
I’ve already placed two orders with Stargazer Barn, and enjoyed hearing how much the recipients of the wine and lilies I sent appreciated getting a gift of flowers and a beverage from a small grower. If you would like to order from Stargazer Barn through the first week of January 2016, be sure to use the code shown on the photo below for free shipping.

Can I Use Duct Tape To Repair My Split Shrubs and Trees?
No. Broken branches don't "knit together" like human bones do, and the duct tape will end up holding in moisture which causes disease, and ultimately strangling the plant. Plus it's U-G-L-Y. Don't do it.
