As the snow continues to fall outside I’m seeking refuge in summer plans. I’ve just decided that the annuals in my fragrance garden will be a planting of three things: African blue basil, Salvia elegans ‘Golden Delicious’, and Snow Princess Lobularia. I can see this combination will be great for foliage contrast, fragrance and flowering too. Done!

Now on to the containers and window boxes. This has led me to looking at photos I’ve taken in the past, and I’m loving these two for different reasons.

I like this combo for the classic pink, white and blue theme. Most of the plants (except the vinca) are Proven Winners plants and I know that as the summer goes on the pink Supertunias, the Snow Princess Lobularia and the Diamond Frost Euphorbia will dominate here and be spectacular until frost.

I'm also loving this combo, however, since it isn't the normal pink/white/blue/lavender. I like the wispy grassy foliage and the pairing of bright flowers with the cooler lavender blooms. A winning combination.

I want to create something new every year in many of my gardens and containers. If I always repeat what worked in the past it would be boring!

What are you planning for the coming season? Where are you looking for inspiration?
