Although it’s almost unheard of for me to get away in May, when I was invited to be part of the Garden2Blog event (#G2B14) I decided to leave Poison Ivy Acres and visit P. Allen Smith’s gardens on Moss Mountain. I admire Allen Smith. He’s a very talented, highly intelligent garden designer who has found a way to share his passion and skills with the public. He’s also a savvy businessman and organic gardener who has formed a company that employees and promotes others as well. Allen partners with various companies in a way that supports his gardens and boosts those products, so my trip to Moss Mountain was not only an opportunity to see his gardens and meet fellow bloggers and authors, but to learn about great products and the stories behind certain companies as well. More about these products in blog posts to come! Right now, however, I want to share a few of the photos I took at Moss Mountain where the roses were in full flower and the veggie garden was already bursting with produce.

This is but one small section of the vegetable garden at Moss Mountain. Since the season in Little Rock is so far in advance of Cape Cod I enjoyed being surrounded by "summer" veggies!

This twig obelisk at Moss Mountain has inspired me to start collecting branches and start constructing! More on this in a future post.

We visited the rose garden in the evening and the flower beds were illuminated by the setting sun. Glorious.

A peak at the potting area in the original, in-town "Garden Home" where Allen's first TV shows were often filmed.

At Moss Mountain Allen has a special interest in chickens. These were ranging free while we had cocktails on the lawn.

When we arrived in Little Rock there was a “goodie bag” in our hotel rooms. Someone will win such a goodie bag, which includes a glass “bee ball” (color may vary from the one pictured). Just go to P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home Facebook page, like it, and then comment that “C.L. Fornari sent me to say hello.” and you’ll be entered into the contest!
