When the spring bulbs and shrubs start to come into bloom we might be reluctant to cut the flowers to bring inside. The landscape is still so bare and brown that it seems like we need every single flower to remain in the garden! But by using a few Mason jars with lids that can display stems we can cut just a few random flower and make a cheerful and charming display.  You can find several lids for regular mouth Mason Jars on Amazon. Any of these offer lids that provide an easy way to display a few stems. Take three jars, fill them with water, add the lid and stick in just a few stems that have been cut from your garden. It’s a perfect celebration of the spring garden, while leaving most of the flowers outdoors where you need them most.

I used three different sized Mason jars with lids that had holes. I cut daffodils, a tulip, hyacinths, muscari, hellebores, Forsythia, and Pieris flowers.

Hellebores are especially treasured at this time of year. The Christmas rose varieties have been flowering since November in my garden, and the Lenten rose types have recently come into bloom.
