Name: Zinnias Grown from Renee’s Garden Seeds
Type of Plant: Annuals for sunny gardens
Why I love this: Do you want a flower that you’ll never see in the florist section of the supermarket? Do you want a flower that can only be locally grown? You need to grow zinnias. These annuals are one of the colorful pleasures of summer. They are beautiful when combined with other flowering plants in the landscape and a must-grow annual for cutting gardens. For many years I’ve grown zinnias from Renee’s Garden Seeds and can’t imagine a summer without them.
A Word to the Wise: If you live in areas where spring is very cool, don’t start zinnias to early in the outdoors. These are heat-loving plants. These are also plants that don’t like to be splashed frequently with water so be sure not to grow them where an automatic irrigation system will be hitting the plants more than once a week.
In The Weekend Project in the near future I’ll feature how to grow Zinnias from seed and we’ll have a Renee’s Garden Seeds Zinna give-away.
