Name:  Phlox paniculata ‘Jeana’ aka Jeana garden phlox.

Type of Plant: A tall perennial phlox known for a LONG flowering period and wonderful (dare I say spectacular?) mildew resistance.

Why I Love This: I love this perennial not only because it flowers for two months or more, attracts butterflies and is a fantastic cut flower, but for its shade tolerance as well. I have Phlox ‘Jeana’ growing in full sun and part shade, and in this case the “part shade” is actually only a couple of hours of direct sun in the middle of the day. The plant is equally mildew resistant in both locations, and equally long-flowering.

A Word to the Wise:  This can be a hard plant to find in the garden centers, but seek it out! Hardy in zones 3 to 8, it grows about 4 feet tall.

This Phlox is worth starting small with, and seaking out. A great native perennial for sun or part-shade.
