Name:  Hosta ‘Wheee’

Type of Plant: An unusual, variegated Hosta that stays low and adds texture to the shade garden.

Why I Love This: I value a low-growing Hosta because they grow thickly and choke out weeds. Many people don’t think about low Hostas as a ground cover, but they are perfect around shrubs and other perennials as weed-smothering plants.  Hosta ‘Wheee’ has edges that are are curvy so they provide lots of texture in the garden. This perennial is green with white edges, but it’s that undulating edge that gives this plant its drama and appeal.

A Word to the Wise: Like other Hosta varieties, this plant can get wide so if you plant them too close together, as I have, you’ll be needing to move them apart in three to five years.

Not only is this plant attractive, but every time someone asks which Hosta this is (and they will ask!) you have the opportunity to say "Wheee!"
