Name:  Echinacea ‘Evan Saul’ (aka Big Sky Sundown coneflower)

Type of Plant: A full sun perennial that grows 3 feet high and is hardy in zones 3-8.

Why I Love This: I love flowers that are coral or peach in color – they blend with purple, blue, yellow, white and greens so beautifully yet are strong enough to hold their own and not wimp out into a wash of pastel haziness. Why have pale pinks and blues when you can have a dash of orange to enliven the garden?

A Word to the Wise: Don’t over fertilize or water coneflowers excessively. The nicer you are to this plant the more likely it is that the stalks will flop over. If these perennials do start to lean into pathways, stake them invisibly with branched twigs stuck into the soil. Clip off the fading flowers to encourage new, more vibrant blooms.

The great thing about this coneflower is that it's not pink but it's not orange either. And so it blends with just about every other flowering plant.
