As the growing season winds down I’m focusing on the increadible wealth in the garden by picking a bouquet every day. But today I decided to place one of these in a location where I don’t often put flowers. One thing that’s enjoyable about cutting flowers and bringing them indoors is that they offer a visual surprise. When you walk into the kitchen and see a huge bouquet on the cutting board next to the stove, for example, or a small bunch of flowers by the bathroom sink, it takes us out of the same old same old.

A bouquet every day? You can grow that! A visual surprise, ditto.

Today's bouquet is made of the very showy Gomphrena Zazzle flower, a budding stem off one of my begonias, and sprigs of Persian shield and Black Pearl pepper.
