Name: Hydrangea Cityline Rio – aka Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Ragra’
Type of Plant: A short Hydrangea with huge, deep blue flowers with a lime-green center. A plant for zones 6-8, best in part shade and one of the best deep blue flowers.
Why I Love This: Last year this shrub bloomed well for me despite the cold winter, and the flowers are nothing short of spectacular. I don’t know if it will flower as well this year or not- but if you need a shorter Hydrangea and want the flowers big and a medium to deep blue, Rio is the plant for you.
A Word to the Wise: Like all Hydrangea macrophylla shrubs they will flower best in locations that are protected from cold, winter and spring winds.
